Andy started his working life as a Gas engineer/Pipe fitter working on various sites across the UK and Ireland. After returning to college he managed several children’s homes and has over 20 years’ experience working with vulnerable people including families and children. He is passionate about helping people realise their full potential.
Andy was the elected leader of Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council, where he and colleagues developed and delivered the Local Regeneration Plan for Knowsley, which is now delivering the construction of over 8,000 new houses, building new vital infrastructure and major projects including Shakespeare of the north Playhouse, which has provided significant job creation.
Andy was a member of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority that negotiated the devolution deal for Merseyside that is delivering £900 Million Investment into the city region. He served as portfolio lead for Liverpool City Region for Children’s and Adult Social Care boards.
Since being part of the Big Help family Andy has managed a range of important housing projects and his experience is warmly welcomed at SVH.
